Walk Softly And Carry A Big Mouse

Man freaking out

Two to three times a year I’m fortunate enough to have the task of writing this blog… I’m no writer, so bear with me. As we move on through this technological, Internet, social media crazed times, don’t despair. It will get a little easier. Everything new is hard until you get used to it. Imagine the first time you drove a car — nervous, sweaty palms, excited stomach… but now you weave in and out of traffic with ease.

With Facebook, Twitter, Digg, and so on, Wikipedia posts 320 social media sites to date. Stay calm… Breathe. Now, baby steps. Sign into Facebook and add a few friends and photos, have fun, after all it’s a meeting place to share stories and hook up with old and new friends. OK, that’s done… it wasn’t too bad. Now, Twitter. Sign on, follow a person or two, and maybe post a tweet. Somebody might follow you or comment on a post… imagine that.

When you’re looking and searching through the vast horizons on the Internet, take your time and learn. Mashable.com is a great site to see up-and-coming trends and the future of this vast technology. Warning: the copy can be challenging. Tip: have a second window open with Google to search these words. With any new stream of cutting edge products there’s a learning curve. So take it slow, be patient and enjoy it because it’s not going away. If anything, it’s going to get stronger. Be safe — it’s a jungle out there.
