Who Cares?

Posted by: Maggie OKeefe

Apathy, or “not caring” as most people know it, is a trap. And I don’t just mean political and voter apathy as was a hot topic in the recent federal election, I mean it in all the forms it takes. Not caring about work, about friends, about family, about you. It’s a trap and it’s all too easy to fall into. I admit I fall for it more times than I care to admit. It’s so easy to turn off the computer at 5:01 and head out for the day or zone out in front of the TV instead of talking with your family or spending time with friends.

But take the other route and spend the extra hour at work or with family and friends and see where the extra effort takes you. Caring takes hard work and persistence, it leads to high cell phone bills and passion-fuelled arguments at work. It can lead to frustration and cursing (which is not always a bad thing, for *$!#’s sake) and the occasional outburst while waiting for the real results.

And the real results are the best. The real results (at least in my world) is work you and your client can be proud of, relationships that are strong and will last forever and sleepless mornings spent writing a blog entry. Actually, that last one is not so much the best, but who cares?

Actually, what happens when you like TV more than people?
