Battle of the Energy Savers

Client: Newfoundland Power and Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro

Challenge:
The takeCHARGE Facebook page had just over 1000 Likes, and the client wanted to build a stronger base for future messaging through Facebook. How could we double our amount of Likes and broaden our audience?

Approach:
We decided to run a Battle of the Energy Savers. We invited people to back their favorite Energy Saver and tell us why, with the best reason winning a character-specific $7500 prize package! We created Pages for Insulation, Thermostat, and Window so the characters could comment on the action. We advertised the contest in radio, print, and online. By the end of the 6 week contest period, we had nearly QUADRUPLED our Likes, receiving over 4000 fans! After the initial entry period, with 320 entries, our fans did the work for us, getting their friends and families to Like the page so they could vote for the winner. A huge success by any metric.
